Dr. Stepanova currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music in Athens, GA. Since joining the school in 2015, her students have consistently won awards in Georgia competitions, including GMTA, MTNA, the Mozart Society of Atlanta, and the UGA Concerto Competition. Alumni of Dr. Stepanova's studio have been admitted to prestigious graduate programs on the East Coast and attend competitive national and international festivals every summer. The studio is active in the community and regularly performs in a variety of outreach and benefit events.

In the summer, Dr. Stepanova participates in a variety of festivals. She is a long-standing faculty member at Songfest, an art song festival held each June at The Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles, and served as the Associate Artistic Director and Piano Program Director there for two years. At Songfest, where she teaches alongside an international collaborative piano faculty hailing from The Juilliard School, Guildhall School, and the University of Michigan, she mentors student pianists, curates and coaches concert programs, and often works with the resident composition faculty.

Dr. Stepanova previously taught at Smith College in Northampton, MA as the Iva Dee Hiatt Visiting Artist in Piano. Between 2011 and 2015, she was also on the faculty at The Juilliard School where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in keyboard harmony and music history among others. She holds a BM in piano performance and pedagogy from the "Hanns Eisler" Academy of Music in Berlin, Germany and a MM and DMA from the Juilliard School, where she was a recipient of the Richard F. French award for an outstanding doctoral document.
